All That Remains - Six (guitar cover)

03:26
I had several requests to perform "Six" by All That Remains, so here it is! It's not perfect, as it requires some skills that I'm still developing, but I think it came out pretty good. Killswitch Engage - Rose of Sharyn (guitar cover)

03:36
This song doesn't have a fancy solo in it, but it has some awesome riffs that are extremely fun to play. It suits my down picking style very well, and it's my favorite KSE song, so I thought I'd make a cover. The song is tuned to drop C and I'm recording directly to my computer using my Line6 POD 2.0. I have posted the tab for this song on my website, where you will also find information about my recording method, playing history, gear, etc: http://www.killrbuckeye.com

As I Lay Dying - The Sound of Truth (guitar cover)

04:26
For more information about me (including what I’ve been doing the last 10 years!), my playing history, gear, tabs, etc., please visit my website: http://www.killrbuckeye.com Please subscribe and follow me on: Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/kbguitarist/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/KBguitarist Spotify - https://spoti.fi/2X5aWOG This is one of my favorite AILD songs. The song is not terribly difficult, but there are some tricky parts. There is a fast pull-off run in the chorus that I found somewhat tough to get clean, and other parts require very steady fast alternate picking, which is one of my weaknesses. Also, there is quite a bit of finger tapping in the song, so I had to break my bad habit of tapping with my index finger. After several painful days of tapping with my middle finger, I finally developed a callus! The solo involves a sweep tap, which is a technique I had never attempted before learning this song. Its a bit sloppy in places, but I'm tired of practicing the song over and over again (and so is my wife!), so here it is! I transcribed it by ear, and my Guitar Pro file is now available on my website (see link below). If you don't have Guitar Pro, please read the information about TuxGuitar on my website. The tuning is DROP D. Most songs on the album "An Ocean Between Us" are in drop C, but NOT THIS ONE. As usual I am recording directly to my computer using my relatively new Line 6 POD X3. I created a custom dual tone trying to get close to AILDs sound on this song. Its a blend of the Line 6 Modern High Gain (Soldano X88R) and the Treadplate 2001 (Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier). I will put the tone file on my website shortly so anyone with a POD X3 can use it.

Metallica-Master of Puppets Interlude & Solo (Guitar Cover)

03:12
I'm playing along to the middle section of "Metallica - Master of Puppets", including the solos. At the time I recorded this video, I didn't have the tremolo bar for the Floyd Rose system, so I used pinch harmonics and bends for the squealie part of the solo. (I have since acquired a new tremolo bar.) I have received many comments about the first part of the interlude being played "too high". People making such comments don't realize that this part is a dual guitar harmony. James and Kirk each play a separate melody (one high and one low) to produce a very nice harmony. On the studio album, the high part of the harmony is much lower in the mix, hence the reason it sounds a bit strange when I play it in this video. However, if you listen to any live version of the song you will clearly hear this. If you still don't believe me, I have cut out a small audio clip of their performance with the SF orchestra and isolated Kirk's harmony part. Check out the link and hear it for yourself: http://www.box.net/shared/a3yg0w9444 (Note: They have tuned down for this performance--it's not in E standard) Audio was directly recorded to my computer using output from a Line 6 POD. Guitar is an ESP KH-2. Enjoy! For information on my playing, gear, recording method, and some of the tabs I've written for my videos, please visit my website: http://www.killrbuckeye.com

Trivium - Dying in Your Arms (Guitar cover with solos)

02:59
This is an easy song by Trivium standards, but I had a request for it a while back. I just got this guitar (Washburn X50 Pro FE) for my birthday a couple weeks ago, so I was eager to record a song with it! It was set up with light strings from the factory, so I was limited to songs in E standard or drop D at the time, and this one fit the bill. Yes, I pasted two takes together to save time, so you will notice a transition in the middle. It's annoying to play the entire song over and over again only to screw up something in the solo. edlg42 made a nice tutorial for the solo in this song, and even though I transcribed it a bit differently than him, it's worth checking out. For questions about my gear, recording method, playing history, tabs for some of the songs I've covered, etc., please visit my website: http://www.killrbuckeye.com

Parkway Drive - Idols and Anchors (guitar cover)

03:52
I'm doing another Parkway Drive song. This song has a cool tapping interlude. I'm using my pick instead of my finger to get it to ring out more clearly. There's also a nice little solo at the end. The rest of the song is pretty straightforward. Some down picking speed is required for the verse riff though. Note that there is an odd stop/start transition you will hear because it is impossible to go seamlessly into the tapping part from the chorus riff. I transcribed the song by ear and my tab is available on my website or Ultimate-Guitar.com. If you don't have Guitar Pro, please read the info about TuxGuitar (free program) on the tab page of my website. http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information about my recording method, gear, playing history, etc.

Parkway Drive - Five Months (guitar cover)

04:13
I tuned my Washburn X50 Pro FE to drop B (that's the low E tuned down 2.5 steps, and the rest of the strings tuned down 1.5 steps) so I could jam along with some Parkway Drive. This is one of my favorite songs from their album "Horizons". This song was actually a bit harder for me than I thought it would be, because my alternate picking across strings is a bit sloppy. However, I think I got it down pretty good. There's a cool little solo near the end of the song. YouTube is automatically applying compression (WAY too much) to the audio, making it sound like crap IMO. It is also making the audio and video go a bit out-of-sync. The original video file sounds great and plays perfectly in-sync on my computer, so it's out of my control. :/ One thing that helps is to click the "high quality" link below the video. This song was relatively easy to transcribe by ear, but I have to thank musicman1066 for pointing out a few mistakes in my original transcription. He has a a great ear. As always, I'm recording directly to my computer through a Line 6 POD 2.0. The tab is now available on my website. It has also been accepted at Ultimate-Guitar. Please rate my tab on U-G (it's the ver2 Guitar Pro tab). Enjoy! http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information on my gear, recording method, playing history, etc. on the site.

All That Remains-The Air That I Breathe (guitar cover)

03:38
I'm playing along with my favorite song by All That Remains: "The Air That I Breathe". The main solo is pretty difficult, so I touched it up after the initial recording (I couldn't play perfectly through the whole song in one shot). You can download my tab for this song from my website: http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information about my gear and recording method.

Metallica - One, Guitar cover of ending with solos

02:09
I'm playing along with one of my all-time favorite songs: Metallica - One. I just performed the last 2 minutes of the song, which IMO happen to be the most interesting :-). It's a bit sloppy, but good enough for a demonstration. Parkway Drive - Frostbite (guitar cover)

03:41
Another Parkway Drive song! Can you tell I'm really into this band right now? This song has some awesome riffs. I absolutely love the fast verse riff played with all down picking. While there's no solo, there's a very cool tapping lick over the breakdown parts. There's also a challenging riff in the middle with fast hammer-ons and pull-offs. You may notice my tone sounds different (hopefully better!) in the video. The reason is that I bought a POD X3 for my birthday (it was on August 1st), and I made a custom tone trying to duplicate as closely as possible PWD's sound. I think I got it pretty close. Let me know what you think. The tab for this song is now on my website! Thanks to musicman1066 for sending me his tab, which saved me a lot of time! Trivium - Suffocating Sight (guitar cover)

03:51
This is a great thrash metal song from Trivium's "Ascendancy" album. The picking in this song is pretty crazy, but I think I managed to get it close enough. The solo also requires some very fast finger movement (a bit more than I can handle), so it's a bit sloppy. I hope you enjoy! I'm playing a Washburn X50 Pro FE guitar through a POD 2.0. I have posted the tab for this version on my website: http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information about my gear, recording method, playing history, etc.

KillrBuckeye | Inner Balance (feat. Finn Maxwell / Musicman1066)

I have never even heard of the song or band in question, so any similarity (which I really don't hear) are purely coincidental. I have disputed the claim and hopefully this is resolved in my favor.

All That Remains - Not Alone (guitar cover)

03:36
I'm playing along with the song "Not Alone" by All That Remains. The solo took me a while to transcribe and get up to speed due to the odd tapping/sliding transitions. You will notice a transition in the video just before the solo. This is because I put two takes together instead of trying to play the song perfectly in one shot. Throughout most of this song there are two distinct guitar parts, and I am only playing one of these parts. For this reason, my recorded guitar may sound a bit different than what you're accustomed to hearing from the album track. If you pan the album track all the way to the left or right, you will hear these two distinct guitar parts. I transcribed this song entirely by ear, as all of the existing tabs I could find were atrocious. The tuning is D standard and I playing my ESP KH-2 through a Line 6 POD 2.0. The tab is now available on my website! http://www.killrbuckeye.com You will also find information on my gear, recording method, playing history, etc. on the site.

Trivium - Like Light to Flies (Guitar Cover with Solos)

05:44
I'm playing along to Trivium - Like Light to Flies. It's the first Trivium song I've learned in its entirety (probably because it's the easiest!). Regarding the distortion in this video: I was not using speaker cabinet simulation on my POD, so the tone sounds very harsh and fizzy. On all of my more recent videos, the tone is much better, so please do not comment about the tone in this video if you don't like it. Trust me, I've already heard this dozens of times. Thank you! Bullet for My Valentine - All These Things I Hate (Guitar Cover)

03:50
I'm playing along with BFMV - All These Things I Hate. Again, I'm using a POD 2.0 to record direct to the sound card on top of the original wav file. Thank you! Bullet for My Valentine-Tears Don't Fall (better audio!)

05:58
Me playing BFMV - Tears Don't Fall. This time I recorded directly to my computer for much better sound quality. You may notice a couple parts where the picking/fingering is just slightly out-of-sync with the audio. That's because I first recorded the song with my digital camera, but the audio quality was horrible. I laid a new audio track but the video is the same. Please visit my website for information on my playing, recording method, tabs, etc. http://www.killrbuckeye.com I'm still working on writing down the tab for this song. When it's finish, I'll post it on my website.

My guitar cover of Bullet for My Valentine - Suffocating...

03:44
This was the very first cover I recorded for YouTube, so I did not use my typical "direct" recording method. The solo should have some finger tapping, which I missed, and it has already been mentioned in the comments about a dozen times. The guitar is a Yamaha Pacifica 112 and I'm playing through a Line 6 POD into my sound card and out my computer speakers. Please visit my website for information on my gear, recording method, tabs, etc. http://www.killrbuckeye.com

My guitar cover of Bullet for My Valentine - 10 Years Today

04:04
Me playing along with Bullet for My Valentine - 10 Years Today. This is one of my favorite tunes on The Poison. I made a couple of mistakes, but I'm too lazy to make another take. :-p Note: This was one of the first videos I recorded for YouTube. Unlike most of my videos, I did not use the direct recording method. The audio you hear is from the camera microphone, hence the poor quality compared to my more recent videos.
