awkward moment of the day: Im watching one of these tutorials and my husband sees over my shoulder and says "That's Cherry Dollface". Apparently he follows her on Instagram and is an admirer. Who knew?! I guessI picked a good hair muse.
cilibekd (6 months ago)
Cherry Dollface I shouldn't have said "awkward". I was just surprised he recognized my hair stylist. But its a pleasant surprise. He loves some of your pictures around Halloween time. ☺💋

Hahah I love it!

Would mousse be an ok substitute for a setting spray?
Mely Socute (2 years ago)
This looks so good wish I can rock out blonde hair =^.^=
Ericca with 2 C's (2 years ago)
Should I attempt this on freshly showered hair? or does it work better on second day hair that has been rewet? My hair is slightly wavy but I can't get a curling iron curl to stay worth a nick. Thanks!

I like pillow rollers much better.
Adi portal (2 years ago)
is hair spray and wax necessary? because i dont have any but i really want to try this
Cherry Dollface (2 years ago)
SueRosalie (3 years ago)
That is by no means short hair, it is medium length.
Vivian Perez (3 years ago)
Hey there! I have naturally curly and frizzy hair so should I do this with straightened hair or my regular and damp mop? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Laura Cafasso (3 years ago)
Thank you for doing a wet set for shorter hair! I tried your earlier tutorial for wet sets and I DEFINITELY got curly hair. But no matter how much I brushed (talking a straight 5 minutes and then some) but curls were still unruly and a little frizzy. Any tips? The night before i wet my hair with my fingers and used a sea salt spray (as you did in the other video) and covered with a scarf and slept on it.
TheRena4455 (3 years ago)
THAT LOOKS AMAZING!!!! I have a question! :D What happens if you have really thick hair? Would it still work because my hair is really thick and it does this weird thing where it doesn't want to be curly or wavy so it just goes in between -__- But would this still work?
Sarah Kathleen (3 years ago)
I love this! Thanks for the tutorial :)
ViVi K (3 years ago)
I really really need you 😜. I am to stupit to style my hair. I have a hard time styling my hair so i end up withba knot on my head lol
tink3b (3 years ago)
Is there a specific type of hair cut or length that lends itself to this hair style?
Miss. Maverick (3 years ago)
this was very instructive! thank you!
Antoinette Eve (3 years ago)
Where did you get those pillow rollers? I have foam rollers, but no matter how big or small I make the hair sections, I'm almost always a poodle, AND they damage the hell out of my hair. Thanks, much love!
Antoinette Eve (3 years ago)
+Cherry Dollface THANKS! I completely looked over that part when reading about the lotion :D Thanks a trillion love!
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
There's a direct link in the description! :)

Never mind...I found your vintage bathing suit collection...I guess that's what I was looking for. But maybe outfits to wear to the beach...as opposed to just the bathing suit...
seventhseance (3 years ago)
Since summer is coming up I was wondering if you could do a video for vintage/rockabilly beach day outfit(s). Not sure if you have a video like that or if there is a decent video uploaded on YT. I absolutely love your channel!
Sara Price (3 years ago)
Loved this video! Would this wet set work on my Natural hair? I'd use the same products I use when I two strand twist my hair
Catherine Johnson (3 years ago)
+Sara Price Depending on the texture of your hair, you might want to stretch it or give it a run through with a blow dryer to smooth it out a bit. Yes, you should be able to do this with your hair! Make sure your products aren't going to cause your hair to revert, you want it nice & smooth.  My mom used to roll her hair like this on Sat night to look nice for church on Sun. Before "pillow rollers" women just used strips of cloth & tied the ends. ("rag curlers"). Even if you didn't stretch your hair, you'd probably end up with a cute curly 'fro thing goin' on; but if you want the 40s look, you're gonna have to smooth it out. Good luck, I know you can do it!
Miss Retro Art (3 years ago)
Lovely!! They don't sell pillow rollers here in Spain. I'm so sad :( Do you know where I can buy them, please?? Thanks! ;)
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
There is an Amazon link in the description, they might ship worldwide!
Joy Stalians (3 years ago)
Where do you get your scarves from? I love it!
Jen Canzoniero (3 years ago)
Great video! Your hair always looks fab and healthy. Could you do a video on how you care for your hair?
Amanda Wilkes (3 years ago)
did you roll the top front to the side and all the rest down?
Amanda Wilkes (3 years ago)
+Cherry Dollface Thanks I gave it a try and it didn't turn out well. not sure if using sponge rollers had anything to do with it or not. It may not have been completely dry too but It brushed out into a fuzzy poofy mess. I will try again though. I don't have time (mom) or patience for curling iron I have very thick hair so trying out wet sets. Thanks
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
It's all rolled down from the part.
Lulu Doll (3 years ago)
Hi Cherry! I love this! I also have long hair. in this video you mentioned in another video you did on how to pin long curls to make it look short. what video would that one be? Thank you!
Lulu Doll (3 years ago)
+Cherry Dollface Thank you! :-)
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
I meant to add the link! Whoops! It's my faux bob with beret video.
Kirsty Absurd (3 years ago)
I really love the look before you brushed it out, is it wrong to leave it like that?
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
Nothing is wrong when it comes to beauty!
nicole scars (3 years ago)
This is so easy and cute! I'm so glad that you added a link in the description to the pillow rollers. Thanks Cherry!

Loving this short do'
Becky D (3 years ago)
I tried this a few days ago but my hair was too wet (just washed) so I think I'll try it on try hair with a little spray.
Becky D (3 years ago)
It wasn't soaking wet but I do have thick hair so maybe it just holds more water or something.  I'll try just barely damp next time.  Thank you!
Catherine Johnson (3 years ago)
+Becky D If it's soaking wet, just grab a good book & sit under the hair dryer. Don't go to bed with a wet head, you'll have nightmares. (Just kidding)

Is it possible to do vintage styles with an undercut?
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
Sure! Down styles are best though!
Chelsea Boulton (3 years ago)
Thank you so much for this!!! I have watched lots of these tutorials before but could only find them for long hair and it just wasn't working for my short hair! This tutorial is explained in basic english and is super easy to follow! Thank you again!
Alwaysddubs (3 years ago)
I'm loving these 40s videos. I love the slightly more subtle look you get with it. 💜💜💜
Sara Sanchez (3 years ago)
Can this hairstyle be done on naturally curly hair? My hair is more thin and I don't have super tight coil curls but I definitely have more then just waves
rayne acosta (3 years ago)
you sure can! I sleep in wet sets most nights and rarely put heat on my hair, it'll come out more frizzy but more authentic as most of the golden age actress had curly hair themselves, the frizzyness is easy to fix with pomades, paste, or just some hair spray and a quick run down with a rat tail comb, hope I helped have a lovely day!
klaryssa marya (3 years ago)
loved it!!! great backgroud music!
HawksBC1 (3 years ago)
Definitely want to do my hair like this for my wedding!
Jeanine Lex (3 years ago)

Super cute!!
Jessica May (3 years ago)
Whenever I brush my curls out...they just flatten. However I try to curl it. Any tips? P.s I love those little rollers. Could probably make some yourself xxx
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
+Jessica May Make sure your hair is wetter and leave the curlers in longer so they dry all the way. If you do a proper wet set, the curls will NOT flatten!
Kaylie (3 years ago)
Lovely video!! But what's up with the audio at 3:33? :
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
+gingersnap1413 Editing mistake! Whoops!
Cassondra Kaczmarczyk (3 years ago)
Thank you for the period specific tutorials. I am loving the 40's styles for my daily look. You are my goto gal for all things retro/pin up. Thank you for teaching a podunk WA girl who is close to 50 how to be a classic beauty. All the compliments I receive are truly yours!
Marion 124 (3 years ago)
hello, I am doing make up and hair for my drama exam and my piece is set in the 40's so this would be perfect. the only problem is that I need to achieve this look in about 30 mins. any advice? x
Marion 124 (3 years ago)
+Hannah Russen thank you! xxx
Hannah Russen (3 years ago)
If you have time (overnight) definitely do a wet set as the curls are strong and hold for days. If not, you can easily curl your hair with a curling iron or flat iron and pin in place to cool. Cherry has tutorials using this technique for kinda instant pin curls, you just curl the hair with a curling iron, pin the curls and leave to cool. Brush out and style. I can't remember which video it is though, so you'll have to look through them, sorry. Good luck with your exam!
itza (3 years ago)
its beutiful your hair...

Would you do 1920s, Downton Abbey, inspired finger waves? Maybe even an updo? You're so good at explaining things, I think you'd be great at that :)
Cherry Dollface (3 years ago)
+ButterflyRose. I have two finger wave tutorials!
Great tutorial . I love wet sets .I've never used pillow rollers though , so I may have to try that . They look comfortable for sleeping in . Thanks for posting . Cheers from N.B. Canada :)
