Queen - Stone Cold Crazy (Live at the Rainbow)
Taken from Queen - Live At The Rainbow -- 1974 - Pre-order here -http://smarturl.it/QueenStores
Sunday 31st March 1974 is a landmark date in the history of rock music. It is now celebrated in the multi format release of a rare recording made at legendary London venue The Rainbow, of a concert by a then up-and-coming band called Queen. Few who turned up for that iconic performance could have predicted they would go on to become arguably the world's best and most successful rock group, although many more may have suspected it after this stunning show.
Among the unique material contained in this release are over a dozen tracks never previously released on any official Queen live album.
That concert, being heard live for the first time in the soon to be released Queen: Live at the Rainbow '74, marked the culmination of the band's countrywide tour, their first as headliners - hot on the heels of a tour supporting Mott the Hoople, late in 1973, on which they were widely regarded as having blown the hit band off the stage. Queen got rave reviews, almost unheard of for a support band, and it was obvious that in future they would be top of the bill. The band's momentum had been building since the release of their eponymous album in July 1973 and, following their success on the Mott tour, at the beginning of 1974 they were tipped as Band of the Year in UK music paper Disc and Music Echo.
Now, a remarkable 40 years later, Queen: Live at the Rainbow '74 has finally surfaced from the archives, providing an invaluable record of emerging superstars demonstrating their talent.
Nothing like Queen during this time period they were a heavy Metal band and sounded great back then … I got to see them for their Queen II , Sheer Heart Attack and Night of The Opera Tour in Calgary you could say my high school years …. Have really fond memories of this time of my life... Nothing like the band Queen though
What a gorgeous Freddie. Pencil thin. Where did he draw all those energy on stage? Did he had enough food?
Well I don't know, I feel sorry for those now, watching half Queen with some other singers here and there...
It's not that they are all bad but, once you've heard how Freddie sings there's no other way around to that song.
I just don't see the point.
I do feel sorry for these singers. People inevitably compare them with Freddie Mercury.
Unless they write their own songs and don't call themselves Queen.
Guys Guys ........ Queen js almost many types of mudic genre.
At the end of Queen, before Freddie passed on, he was singing some disco, new wave kinda songs..due to his weakness. No more power house vocals. So, J believe, Queen is versatile. 😊
May's live playing is fast smooth and clean. He doesn't miss a note. Zero slop. I don't like Chicago but check out 25 or 6 to 4 live 1970. Terry Katz is aggressive and flawless. Total shredder. And he influenced Johnny Ramone with the hair style.
"Stone Cold Crazy" was actually the first song Queen ever played on stage together on June 27th 1970 while they were still called Smile. And it was with bassist Mike Grose before John Deacon joined the band. In fact, they'd go through Barry Mitchell and Doug Bogie before landing on Deaky in 1971. Freddie hadn't changed his name to Mercury yet. He was still Freddie Bulsara. He had played this song with his previous band Wreckage (formerly Ibex). Just a cool couple of facts I'd like to pass on.
