These audio recordings are part of the HowtorockSpirit Astrology section.
This is an audio recording describing the year sign of the -TIGER- in Chinese or Taoist Astrology, the Astrology of the East.
Chinese Astrology is also called "Wu Xing" and is based upon the lunar seasons and year-cycles of the moon's calendar. The Celestial signs and elements of the Chinese Zodiac are a key aspect of every individual's total cosmic persona.

Wood Tiger - Aquarius, Aries Ascendant here, and a lot of this rings true, except they are wrong about Tigers eschewing logic and always acting impulsively. I can't speak for all Tigers, but I love rational thinking, and I adhere to it. It is the only way to break things down, make sure you are doing them right and doing them fairly. Emotional insight can come in a flash, sure, maybe save some time arriving at a conclusion, but it's often inaccurate, shaky, and can make a situation far worse if you're not careful with it. I've used logic often in my life to take apart the way I habitually do something, assess it, re-build the process and perfect the technique. Tigers gotta learn how to hunt, right? And keep improving their technique, applying it to different situations. Watch BBC's Spy in the Jungle and other shows about tigers. The young tigers take a long time to learn to hunt like their mama. Tigers are certainly more logical and clever and plan far more than their prey. They have to, because without a flexible and appropriate plan of action, the chances are stacked against them, even with their fierce physical attributes, and they will starve.
In astrology, Tiger is just an archetype, not the real animal, but it is useful to adhere to the animal that the archetype sought validation in. The broad brush-strokes these astrology guides use to help you grasp certain aspects of a character miss a lot of the nuance and even mislead. The appearance of impulsiveness comes from an instinctual recognition of a key aspect of reality - that conditions change.
The tiger in the wild has a general idea of how the hunt is going to play out, but he/she cannot actually make the plan until he has snuck up close enough to the prey to assess the situation, to see how they are spread out, which would be the best targets, what obstacles for him and they are around, what cover for him, what path to stay hidden and get closer, etc. And even after that, the plan may have to change, as he sneaks in even closer for the attack, the wind could change, one of the prey animals might smell him, he might snap a twig, make a sound, the herd could get spooked for no reason.
There is a thrill to living like that. Knowing that you don't have all the answers, could not possibly account for all of the variables, but you have a skill set that you have honed that will carry you through, and right there in the moment you are going to put it all together and make it work, or fail spectacularly and do it all again. I have to admit, I have been drawn to it, and often found myself doing it without realizing it. Now I'm aware of it, but I still kind of prefer it, not always, but often. In human life, sometimes a well thought-out, orchestrated plan that you perfectly or mostly adhere to is the best way to go, and creating that perfect plan, and executing it perfectly, are their own types of thrill. But even the perfect plans sometimes have to bend to the changing conditions (or break if they are imperfect), and that's when this tiger way, the way of the fighter leading the charge, rather than the general at the back, the way of the athlete on the court, rather than the coach on the the sidelines, the way of the improvising performer right in front of the crowd, rather than the writer/composer behind the curtain, comes through as not just thrilling, but necessary.
And when the pressure isn't on, you're just trying to have fun and enjoy life, see what trouble you can get up to, it's definitely the way to find the most magic, wherever you are.
This is a wonderful comment. You have said something very important: Astrology can only ever give us broad brushstrokes of the personality. A favored phrase in our community is "Confluence." If you have alot of the same archetype in your chart, it makes it particularly strong and influential in the personality, but if you don't, it might not tell everything about you. Just having Tiger on your year branch will not necessarily turn you into a mindless, spring loaded, emotionally-driven monster with a killer instinct. The descriptions in these texts are often meant to portray exaggerated attributes, so that you can see them. BUT -------- I liked your idea of the Tiger stalking its prey, being sensitive to the moment, having a plan but also changing it. That was really poetic. I imagine a Tiger doesnt NEED to live like that, but at some point, has fun doing it :p Everything in balance!
I hate to say this, but they are terrible with ending relationships, because they won't even let you know there is a problem and they will just cut you off without any warning or notice and no closer either!!
Earth Tiger - ego problems? I'm running for World President since I know what's best: Go vegan and give generously, honor the smart young generation, build a garden instead of a huge soulless skyscraper.
HowtorockSpirit thank you for clearing this up!! I have so many conflicting signs in both Chinese and western astrology and it can be quite the struggle to find information on the combinations I happen to have 😅 however you are correct with the manipulation, but I tend to be that way through honesty or half truths haha but again thank you for clearing it up a bit for me!!
Ah, that's rad! It's always a blessing in disguise when two of your taoist animal signs are in opposition. They're hard to integrate, but once they are harmoniously combined , they represent opposites that complement each other. In this case, the Monkey hour "seed" is what the Tiger tree creates. Most Tigers are very much in their heads about what is the moral thing to do; they would never cross their wires or act outside of their instinct of what is right. But sometimes, this blinds them from a good deal. The Monkey in you is probably very aware of how to manipulate people for great effect, and the tiger ensures that the motive behind that manipulation is for a good cause. You might be the type for example who is a powerful politician, and knows how to play dirty and "bend the rules" for your team; but maybe your efforts are concentrated on humane social pursuits, like getting money for the local soup kitchen or something. Just throwing some ideas out there. The hour is closer to the core of the personality than is the Year sign. Your Tiger year probably shows idealism and activism, and a desire for peace and creative heart-freedom. And the monkey is probably fearless about pushing people's buttons to get there. On the downside, the monkey may undermine your efforts, and people may see the Tiger's strength and purity as a guise for the inner devious monkey, even if your intentions really are pure in the end. Again, just some food for thought. Thanks for sharing!
I don't really believe in astrology signs and what not but it's interesting to learn about. I'm bit like this or at least to be. Athletic, too competitive, used to be aggressive, didn't bottle my emotions, though I now. Definitely a rebel. A bit more too. Though I've learned to better the bad parts
