Seasoned Sofisticate (2 months ago)
CurlyinColorado thanks for replying! Hope you’re feeling much better now. I wondered what happened to you from time to time. All the best to you.

I guess you could say that. I had a surgery a couple years ago because I had intense pain daily. I did a post on it on my blog www.curlyincolorado.com. I would like to start doing videos again though so stay tuned!

Very nice what was the leave in conditioner you used ?
CurlyinColorado (1 year ago)
It's a leave in conditioner by Garnier Fructis. I like it because it gives my hair enough slip to comb through it.

Hi. Great Tutorial!! Your hair looks pretty afterwards. I like the fact you put the video to your talking beside it-I wish more would do it that way. Thanks--in Colorado also.

Great video! Love your hair! I'm so glad I found ur video. I want to straighten my hair for my bday in October for a length check but I'm scared cuz last year I had it straightened and got heat damage from just that one time. Now I know I can use the rollers to stretch the ends and just flat iron my roots without having to worry about my heat damaged ends getting any worse :)
CurlyinColorado (3 years ago)
Thanks! The roller setting definitely helps with straightening. I hope it works for you! Thanks for watching! :)
Vannasgran 617 (4 years ago)
How many days did this last?
CurlyinColorado (4 years ago)
+myrna hatcher I usually wear it until my next wash day which is once a week. If you continue to roll it at night with satin rollers you can keep the curly look going.
RelativelyIntoverted (4 years ago)
U'm stealing that roller tip
cynthia Denise (4 years ago)
After watching this video I'm definitely going to try a roller set TONIGHT
CurlyinColorado (4 years ago)
Cool! I hope the style works for you.
Heres_the_good_life (4 years ago)
The end result for this style is really nice.I love big soft curls, but I bet that it would frizz up really easy though. I still can't find the right product to keep natural hair from reverting in humidity.
Uchechi Chukwu (4 years ago)
I really love the softness of your hair. What kind of Shampoo would you recommend? Btw, I really love your hair, and this video <3
CurlyinColorado (4 years ago)
Thanks! I actually have a video where I talk about my favorite shampoos. You can search my channel for, "shampoo" and it should come up.
Lsoon (4 years ago)
What's the point in the magnetic part? I've seen snap on covers for rollers that work without being magnetic.
CurlyinColorado (4 years ago)
The rollers are not actually magnetic.  They are made of a hard plastic material.  When the hair is wet enough it will adhere to the roller.  Attaching the hair to the roller in this way is the reason for the term "magnetic".  Hope that helps :)

Awesome idea about the rollers and how to maintain the snap on them. Your hair came out great!

Simone Mercedes Mayers (5 years ago)
What number and letter would you say your hair type is?
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
I would say a 4a/4b with my tighter curls in the crown area.  All of my hair grows in like a tight spiral shape but has most likely loosened gradually with heat use.
Savannah Mosshart (5 years ago)
Great tutorial! Thank you!
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
No problem. Hope it helps :)
Regina Craig (5 years ago)
I am in transition from relaxed to natural hair.  I have been a bit nervous about the process, but your video have made me less apprehnsive. I have the exact hair-type as you (have watched many videos but your hair was a perfect hair-type match to mine), and the results of your 'wash-n-set'  technique has encouraged me to  continue on my journey.  I am 4 months into growing my hair to its natural state.  I keep a box of relaxer on the ready just in case I want to revert, but I think your video just gave me another reason not to open that box.
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
So cool!  My Mom recently transitioned to natural and she was literally feeling the same way midway through.  I helped her to style her hair that weekend to help give her a break.  Maybe put your hair up when it feels like too much.  It helps.  Now that she's natural she loves it so much.  And the growth is ridiculous!  Hang in there!  It's worth it :)
lifeestrange (5 years ago)
How did you preserve this style?
lifeestrange (5 years ago)
Tamar Price (5 years ago)
Just a tip . . Roll the front rollers in the opposite direction (as in away from your face). You will definitely see a better result. Good tutorial!
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
Thanks for the tip! :)
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
Thanks! This took me a long time to get the hang of but it's starting to get easier.
Lovely Camille (5 years ago)
your hair is absolutely beautiful, i would hope to some day have my hair like that and all flowy, natural for a year, make me want a rollerset even more :)
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
I use an Ion dryer that I purchased at Sally's for like $40 bucks 5 years ago. It's ok but the back of my hair always takes forever to dry.
Jai Bennett (5 years ago)
Cute n ez
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
No problem :) Thanks for watching! :)
Jackie Toye (5 years ago)
rGeat job! Thanks for the How To post.
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
Thanks! I've seen other videos where the person also uses gel. When I use it to set my braid outs it helps to use a moisturizer underneath. I wonder if my curls would actually last longer that way...hmmm? Thanks for watching! :)
Capelli Care (5 years ago)
Great job! Next time try Hourglass and Halo Rollers!
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
I actually picked that up watching another video and it works. I'm still on the same set of rollers and have not had to repurchase.
melizzamelizza (5 years ago)
Wooow, place the snap in the roller to keep it's shape. Never thought of that. I would be buying new rollers all the time because they seemed loose. Great video.
Leneisha White (5 years ago)
Wow! Your hair was so bouncy and full!!! Beautiful! I love it :)
CurlyinColorado (5 years ago)
I spritz my hair with water throughout the process and feel like my hair is sticking to the roller. The extra smoothing has given me better results though. Thanks for the comment. :)
musigirl11 (5 years ago)
Using magnetic roller and if the hair is wet enough it wont take much work to smoothe the ends onto the roller, they are supposed to stick to the hair completely flat,
musigirl11 (5 years ago)
Mitchel your hair was not wet enough, I grew up usung
Bee Jones (5 years ago)
I love the body. Good job

I absolutely love your natural hair! The roller set looks great too but your natural hair is just gorgeous! I've always adored the texture of African American hair but the closest I can get to it is crimping which is very damaging :( Great video, very helpful!
NanTheGoldChild (6 years ago)
Thanks I'm going to use this technique on our natural hair!
CurlyinColorado (6 years ago)
I have tried it with ponytail holders and still got wavy roots so I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the suggestion! :)
GiftedCreativeArtist (6 years ago)
Your hair turned out beautifully. I just saw another youtuber tuday who stretched her roots by banding them first (putting in ponytails) before rolling. I love your results, saw your reply to HandysKhandi and thought you might like to see her method. She's MsTasiaAsia. Thanks for sharing!
CurlyinColorado (6 years ago)
I have seen ladies who, no matter what size roller they use, they were able to achieve smoother roots. I think it depends on the amount of tension and how much hair is sectioned for each roller. I'm still working on my technique so hopefully one day I'll be able to roll and wrap without the flat iron step. Thanks for watching! :)
HandysKhandi (6 years ago)
if u use larger rollers do u still have to flat iron the roots?
CurlyinColorado (6 years ago)
For hair textures similar to mine, doing this technique while the hair is wet will create smooth curls. If the hair is already a straight texture then the Roller set can be done using a styling aid like mousse or a spritz of water / product. HTH :)
Cara Deculo (6 years ago)
does it have to be wet??
CurlyinColorado (6 years ago)
Thanks so much! :)
Dummiip (6 years ago)
Excellent demonstration and results
CurlyinColorado (6 years ago)
Que? Wouldn't that slow down the drying time? Don't think I've ever seen a roller set done using a satin scarf to cover the rollers. I use a heat protectant serum and that works for me.
Tan M (6 years ago)
good job
CurlyinColorado (6 years ago)
Usually the curls can last 3 days for me without too much effort. If I use rollers each night though it can go for longer. Usually by day 3 though I start to wear my hair up in a curly pony puff. The roller set just makes my hair a lot more manageable so it's a lot of fun to style my hair afterwards. I would say the frizz is minimal. Thanks for the comment :)

Absolutely beautiful!

Looks good, but I would not use heat because I wouldn't want to mess up my curl pattern.....

Thanks! I've had this dryer for a while. I purchased it at Sally's for 40 bucks.

This took me back down memory lane...it's been years...I used to SWEAR by this method (using these exact same rollers) for getting my natural hair almost straight. I always had issues with my coily ends though; unlike yours they never wanted to lay flat on the roller. Thinking about running out and getting some magnetic rollers...thanks! :)

That came out great! Loving it!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. :)

I usually will use my satin rollers or pin curls because they're both easier to sleep on.

how do you plan to wear your hair? are going to pin curl it at night? you did an excellent job.

It looks wonderful you should try edge control by ORS for the edges.

Great idea doing a roller set with the magnetic rollers and clips and flatiron the roots! I
Mslady C (6 years ago)
Wow it came out really great!!!! I've been using perm rods to set my hair so I can avoid blow drying to get some stretch. This however, looks much much better! I need to go buy some magnetic rollers :) thank you for sharing!
