Hey awesome video, yet I have a problem. For some odd reason, whenever I want to add a forum to my wpforo, it simply says "Impossible to add a forum" this is hugely paralyzing for my workflow and I haven't found any information on it (Because of that, I simply can't build my forum)
So, would you still recommend this plugin as a forum solution through wordpress? Do you know if you can change the language which the forum ui uses? Also would it be possible to make a private forum with this, like "invite only" forum and closed to public.?
Hi, is it possible to have two separate forums in one website? For example: Homepage--> click forum 1 and you go to forum one // Forum2 and you go to forum 2 and they talk about two different topics.
thank you so much
HI, sorry , not an expert, do we need BBPress to be able to use it? I try to register an with an email to test it , but it tells me SUSPECTED BOT in red letters on the up right side of the browser and it ignores it.
hey there Anthony.. not sure if you figured this out yet but I had the same problem and my activation links were being sent to spam folders.. hope this helps you, but im sure you mightve figured it out in the 4 months since you posted this comment.. if you know how to keep them from going to spam, please let me know.. thanks, cheers!
So can the rest of you help me out here...... I have my forum all set up. Not sure whats p with the login but i know there is at least one. My question is ....Is there no way to show post and topics in forum with the "icons" listed in menu for the forum in footer? I have a post of rules i wanted to make pinned under "welcome" and I dont see any way to change this assign it as such. I have found a font code to change the icon to the pin, but am i really coding icons in a plugin for a forum in 2018 LOL. Just curious if I am missing something.
Love your tutorials as always. I hope you are enjoying your trip!!! I do have a question that maybe if not you someone may be able to help with. I have my forum set up all looks amazing. I noticed when i go to "register page by typing it into search i come to a page that looks like the one in your tutorial. When i click on register on the forum bar, I noticed you have one as well......it shows a different registration page, with a "email will be sent with a password and you will be able to change once you verify email" I like that one better but not sure where it is pulling that form from.?
Follow up... I did deactivate buddypress and I see the log in for WPForo is very clean and is there. I also notice my profile is still there. So I am confused why is Buddypress needed? The login is generated by WPForo?
Hello Darrel! I wanted to ask you the following question; We are implementing a forum for a virtual campus and we need to establish topics that we do not want all students to see. Is there a way to configure the members to restrict access to certain sections? Thanks!
Hey buddy, great tutorial! I wanted to ask that how to add reward system in the forum? Like if someone posts or comments on the forum, that person gets points. I found one plugin named WordsPoint but I think that is not working with Wordforo. Please help. Thanks. :)
This is quite an interesting tutorial which has caused me to subscribe to your channel, so thanks for that. I have a couple of questions.
*FORUM ACCESS:* You showed us how to create multiple forums with this plugin. Right here https://youtu.be/sUjb-QOFk2Q?t=10m3s you talk about forum access. Can the access levels be controlled individually on these different forums or are the group rights assigned globally to all forums in this plugin?
*MEMBERSHIP FEATURES:* Is the membership and permission system in this plugin usable in other places and plugins within a single web site? That is, if I add a commerce plugin, will the membership from the forum plugin be usable by the commerce plugin or will then have to create a separate account for the commerce part? Same goes if I want to send emails to the members or use the membership database to control access sets of web pages.
If it's easier, please just point me to other tutorials that answer these questions.
Thanks for a great tutorial. I'm just exploring WordPress and plugins to see if I can find the functionality I need. I've been using Concrete5 and built one site on SquareSpace.
It would have been useful if you had put the name of the forum plugin in the description. I had to scrub around in the video to find it again. For others that might be interested, it is wpForo. He also used BuddyPress to add features need by wpForo. Can I use Divi Builder with this forum, other third-party themes or do I have to use the themes wpForo provides?
Right here https://youtu.be/sUjb-QOFk2Q?t=15m8s you are on the _Font-end Phrase_ configuration page. I'm not familiar with that term. Clearly it is some kind of string processing system where the %s value gets replaced with a value. I just don't understand what it's purpose is.
You are such a life saver man. Honestly. These days, when i browse through the tutorials on youtube i really wish to see a tutorial created by "Darrel Wislon" and i pounce on it. You make things so accessible. I bet you are very good with Wordpress, PHP, JS and CSS. I really wish you come up a complete tutorial for wordpress and do it over udemy. It would be so amazing to learn real coding from you. Coz you are so good at explaining and making the people around you feel safe and secure to tread hostile waters of code. Thank you for the wonderful job you are doing. Keep creating. Looking forward to more from you. All the very best.
Hi Darrel, Your videos are ammazing. Is this plugin allow us to add separate forum under each page of EXTRA theme?. let me give an example, say i have three pages 1. page A (WP for beginers), 2. Page B (wordpress plugins). 3. Page C (wordpress themes). I want to create a topic with this plugin in respective pages instead of creating a forum tab in menu and adding topics to that.
Hi Darrel Wilson, I'm web developer, recently just get to try wordpress, very inspire by your youtube tutorial, I wanna try make myself a forum.
Can I get some advice from you?
Wanna know among a lot forum plugins, which is best if not consider additional same serial premium plugins cost? It is still the wpForo?
Hey Darrel.. Loved your video. Another thing which caught my fancy is the way you record your video. Can you tell which software/tool you use for this foreground speaking you and in the background, the video keeps running..
+Darrel Wilson We're a florist association and use memberpress already for our site. I like this forum plugin but am hesitant to use because of the redirects from the forum because memberpress has redirects after login/logout also. I'm thinking that by using this forum, we would actually need some custom back coding involving the redirects.
Thanks for the recommendation! A lot cleaner than the old bb forum! You could probably even add my style by putting shortcode into a text element using Elementor or Divi page builder to add like background image, complimentary colors and so on!
Nice recommendation. Thumbs up. One recommendation: I've been watching you a long time and I've even mentioned this before but you say "You guys" a LOT. Some advice: Next time you want to say "you guys" simply say "you." "You" does the job and it doesn't distract. Anyway, good information and thanks for putting it together.
I understand. Best to you Darrel for being open and receptive to constructive feedback. To be clear, I'm not trying to be unfriendly. Quite the contrary. I develop media talents for a living and you've got real chops if this is something you want to do in the future. Just keep on developing your craft and your on-air presence.
Does this integrate with UltimateMember? UM is what I'm going to be using for my member profiles and need users to be able to do everything from that 1 account. Right now the only forum I know that integrates with that is bbpress
