Thank you SOOOO Much !!! I just moved over to wpforo from bbpress . . . Excellent Move !!! This video is EXACTLY what I needed - you are an amazing instructor & cover the topic & explain everything in such a friendly way. Thanks again !
Paulo Ardas (11 days ago)
Darell, it is too superficial and for 15 year old kids. Please do not start a sentence and abandon the example trying to use it there. Please try to explain concepts and do not dwell in details you later ignore. You have a very good sense to locate a topic and your are unique but please be more pedantic.
Catherine Rose (12 days ago)
Great tutorial, thanks! Is it possible for subscribers to upload images, video and audio - for example, from a mobile - with the Embeds add on? If not, is there a free, compatible plugin that will allow easy media uploads?
AnonymousPiLover (16 days ago)
It’s based on Xenforo :o
Roland Burton (21 days ago)
I followed your instructions with wpforo and buddypress and it seemed to be going all right now to create some forums. The only problem is... I can't seem to Post or Create any new Forum topics! Are the new topics supposed to be moderated and approved someplace? And if so, where do I moderated at?

Do you have to put the site online for the forum to work? Cause I keep getting errors while trying to post something.
Daan Duijkers (1 month ago)
@Darrel Wilson OOPS! Wrong video I meant your previous video. But now I have a different problem. The register page will not appear even though I followed your steps!

Chuzz Bot (1 month ago)
WPForo charges subscription fees for including images to forums. Don't be fooled into thinking it's a one off as the feature will expire after one year.
Chuzz Bot (1 month ago)
@Akhilleus Uggo @ $35 a year to have pictures and videos, I would never sign up so it wasn't clear and I just rechecked the other day, before posting here so. Say what you like I'm telling the truth. Have the last say I don't care, I'm out on this nonsense.
Chuzz Bot (1 month ago)
@Akhilleus Uggo Nope, if it changed it did this week. Shill much?
Akhilleus Uggo (1 month ago)
@Chuzz Bot Well , i've got 2 addons and they work fine . And yes they wrote it so clear : Products subject to yearly license for future updates.
Chuzz Bot (1 month ago)
@Akhilleus Uggo Not without posting a screen grab of my account. At the time of posting the plugins pages make no mention of recurring fees, you only find out when the plugin stops working and you get slapped with the open hand. That's easy to find at the wpforo just checkout those plugins/ addons. Careful not to give them your money though. The basic forum is free but any useful functionality needs addons with what looks like a one off purchase... beware, it's not.
Akhilleus Uggo (1 month ago)
@Chuzz Bot Do you have any proofs?

Hello Darrel! I wanted to ask you the following question; We are implementing a forum for a virtual campus and we need to establish topics that we do not want all students to see. Is there a way to configure the members to restrict access to certain sections? Thanks!
Susana Madaro (10 months ago)
Darrel Wilson (10 months ago)
you will need a plugin called restrict content pro OR memberpress, this allows you to hide certain sections depending on the status of users
King Maker (10 months ago)

Hey buddy, great tutorial! I wanted to ask that how to add reward system in the forum? Like if someone posts or comments on the forum, that person gets points. I found one plugin named WordsPoint but I think that is not working with Wordforo. Please help. Thanks. :)
Robert Shaver (10 months ago)
This is quite an interesting tutorial which has caused me to subscribe to your channel, so thanks for that. I have a couple of questions. *FORUM ACCESS:* You showed us how to create multiple forums with this plugin. Right here https://youtu.be/sUjb-QOFk2Q?t=10m3s you talk about forum access. Can the access levels be controlled individually on these different forums or are the group rights assigned globally to all forums in this plugin? *MEMBERSHIP FEATURES:* Is the membership and permission system in this plugin usable in other places and plugins within a single web site? That is, if I add a commerce plugin, will the membership from the forum plugin be usable by the commerce plugin or will then have to create a separate account for the commerce part? Same goes if I want to send emails to the members or use the membership database to control access sets of web pages. If it's easier, please just point me to other tutorials that answer these questions.
Robert Shaver (10 months ago)
Thanks Darrel. I'll take a look at that. What's a good tutorial to get an overview of how WordPress is structured?
Darrel Wilson (10 months ago)
i think you will need memberpress + this plugin. The memberpress plugin will allow you to restrict certain areas based off "tiers" these two plugins can work together
Robert Shaver (10 months ago)
Thanks for a great tutorial. I'm just exploring WordPress and plugins to see if I can find the functionality I need. I've been using Concrete5 and built one site on SquareSpace. It would have been useful if you had put the name of the forum plugin in the description. I had to scrub around in the video to find it again. For others that might be interested, it is wpForo. He also used BuddyPress to add features need by wpForo. Can I use Divi Builder with this forum, other third-party themes or do I have to use the themes wpForo provides?
Darrel Wilson (10 months ago)
its probably my other video i teach both, you can use both plugins, some just look different than the other and carry other features
Robert Shaver (10 months ago)
What are "front-end phrases"?
Robert Shaver (10 months ago)
Right here https://youtu.be/sUjb-QOFk2Q?t=15m8s you are on the _Font-end Phrase_ configuration page. I'm not familiar with that term. Clearly it is some kind of string processing system where the %s value gets replaced with a value. I just don't understand what it's purpose is.
Darrel Wilson (10 months ago)
im confused what do you mean?

You are such a life saver man. Honestly. These days, when i browse through the tutorials on youtube i really wish to see a tutorial created by "Darrel Wislon" and i pounce on it. You make things so accessible. I bet you are very good with Wordpress, PHP, JS and CSS. I really wish you come up a complete tutorial for wordpress and do it over udemy. It would be so amazing to learn real coding from you. Coz you are so good at explaining and making the people around you feel safe and secure to tread hostile waters of code. Thank you for the wonderful job you are doing. Keep creating. Looking forward to more from you. All the very best.
wonderful tutorial. very helpful. please how do i make the login page active or workable. when i click on the login, i will get a 404 error message saying the page doesn't exist. what do i do?

Hi Darrel, Your videos are ammazing. Is this plugin allow us to add separate forum under each page of EXTRA theme?. let me give an example, say i have three pages 1. page A (WP for beginers), 2. Page B (wordpress plugins). 3. Page C (wordpress themes). I want to create a topic with this plugin in respective pages instead of creating a forum tab in menu and adding topics to that.

Always Unlimited (1 year ago)
Looks like a great forum plugin right up to the point where you installed buddypress. We're trying to stay away from buddypress and we are using memberpress for our subscriptions. Thoughts?
Always Unlimited (7 months ago)
@Darrel Wilson We're a florist association and use memberpress already for our site. I like this forum plugin but am hesitant to use because of the redirects from the forum because memberpress has redirects after login/logout also. I'm thinking that by using this forum, we would actually need some custom back coding involving the redirects.
Darrel Wilson (1 year ago)
memberpress is good as well, but this is more forum, memberpress is more for memberships and restricting content.
Greg Hyatt (1 year ago)
Thanks for the recommendation! A lot cleaner than the old bb forum! You could probably even add my style by putting shortcode into a text element using Elementor or Divi page builder to add like background image, complimentary colors and so on!
Darrel Wilson (1 year ago)
you sure can, glad this helped!

Nice recommendation. Thumbs up. One recommendation: I've been watching you a long time and I've even mentioned this before but you say "You guys" a LOT. Some advice: Next time you want to say "you guys" simply say "you." "You" does the job and it doesn't distract. Anyway, good information and thanks for putting it together.
Robert J. Holtz (1 year ago)
I understand. Best to you Darrel for being open and receptive to constructive feedback. To be clear, I'm not trying to be unfriendly. Quite the contrary. I develop media talents for a living and you've got real chops if this is something you want to do in the future. Just keep on developing your craft and your on-air presence.
